This is a fantastic shinsakuto by the gendai smith Masataka (Takano Takakazu). Masataka was of the Sakai Ikkansai Shigemasa mon and he won the Nyusen prize at the Shinsaku Meito Ten 5 times. This is an extremely long sword measuring 79.2 cm. The hamon is a flamboyant chojiba that is filled with hataraki. These is kinsuji, sunagashi, yo and deep ashi. The jihada is a very fine ko-itame with ji-nie. The boshi is ko-maru with kaen (nie sweeping down). This sword comes with certification from the NTHK attesting to the quality of the blade and authenticity of the mei.
